Stanley A. Motta shares with Copa Airlines collaborators

Wednesday July 4th, 2018

Stanley A. Motta, president of the Board of Directors of Copa Holdings, shared with Copa Airlines collaborators during a conversation held in the company’s auditorium.

During the event, he told about the beginnings of Copa Airlines, together with his father Alberto C. Motta C. and his brother Alberto “Pancho” Motta. His father became a shareholder in Copa Airlines in the 1960s, when he acquired a stake with his uncle Roberto from the insurer Administradora de Seguros S.A. (today ASSA), which in turn had a stake in the Panamanian airline. “We had an airplane and a half,” he recalls as he narrates the beginning of the company. Through the years, with effort and work, they were acquiring more participation in Copa Airlines.

In 2005, the airline entered the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the third Latin American airline to trade in this important market. Today, Copa Airlines is a success story, with more than 9,500 employees and a fleet of 100 aircraft, connecting Panama with 77 other destinations in 32 countries in North, Central, South America and the Caribbean, operated through the Hub of the Americas, in Panama City.
