The American Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua in 2014 paid tribute to Stanley Motta for his business trajectory, giving him the Recognition of Business Excellence.

He (my father) established the rule that when something ended badly we only talked about it once and it was to ask what we learned, not who was to blame. Even today we cling to this and many others of its rules and we try to inculcate them to the next generations of our family.

Stanley Motta (BBA ’67) was asked to deliver the charge to graduates at this year’s diploma ceremony in Tulane University.
Stanley Motta, chairman of Copa Holdings, parent company of Panama’s Copa Airlines and Colombia’s Copa Airlines Colombia, president of Inversiones Bahia, and CEO of Motta Internacional, won over his audience with a humorous, heartfelt address to graduates.
“In life, it is not a matter of whether or not you will have surprises,” Motta said, “it is only a matter of how you handle them.”
